I first encountered the word E-sports and my view stayed the same. It's about competition, it demands talent, definitely. I've never seen chess called a sport or poker featured on ESPN.

They're not really into e-sports, but everyone can see their own way of looking at it. They require a lot of talent and competition, much like weightlifting. It demands significant physical strength but not a high level of skill (though I’m sure that’s not my intention). Ultimately, it depends on personal perspective.

Participating in a contest? Yes, it's a game. It's not a conventional sport, making it an "e-sport". Additionally, the U.S. authorities have granted athlete visas to League of Legends players: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2421755,00.asp So, that's not correct.

Esports are exciting. I'm not convinced. But seriously, if they can turn it into a business, then it definitely counts as a sport.

I understand you're making a point, but it seems the discussion is getting a bit intense. Let's keep the conversation respectful.

I think it's amusing that hands lack muscles, and the term "member thing" repeats exactly what you wrote. 10/10 for consistency.

I find humor in e-sports. I laugh when people talk about poker or chess as games.

So... you seem to avoid using your body when playing games? Even your mind? Just head over to the consoles section, okay? Basically, any top-level gamer can complete over 100 actions each minute. In RTS/MOBA games it's about how often you trigger controls, but they also need strong muscle memory, strategy, and stamina. You can read my thoughts here: I'm not trying to copy-paste them, honestly. I mostly agree with this idea. E-sports are definitely a sport, just like motorsports. If we treat sports strictly, track and field would be the real deal. The rest—American football, basketball, soccer, ice hockey, etc.—would be similar to ball-and-stick games or team sports.

Pool, snooker, chess – all forms of sport. I believe talented individuals can profit from their passions. Calling it foolish takes away from their opportunities. Of course, most will remain casual, but seeing the industry expand is encouraging.
