I'm having trouble understanding why the task manager isn't showing what's consuming about 15 gigabytes of memory, and I'm not sure how to interpret the details in the event viewer to confirm the issue. It seems like when it first started, I purchased Jedi Survivor via Steam, which unexpectedly opened EA without using much RAM—Task Manager should have indicated this, yet it didn't. I disabled nearly every startup program, including four, and installed all drivers and Windows updates. My AMD 7950X is paired with a Zotac 4090, and GSKILL RAM is set on Windows 11 Home.
Is the system idle? If yes, review your start-up applications for any unknown entries (the attached image shows what mine look like). Look for tasks in both the Processes and Details sections that might be consuming a lot of memory. Should these steps not resolve the issue, consider running a virus scan to ensure no memory-hogging malware is active. If nothing helps, reinstalling Windows might be the safest option. I can't understand why 20GB RAM usage is an issue—my system only has 8GB, so pinpointing which processes are using most of it isn’t straightforward. Wishing you success on improving your memory situation. And just to clarify, uTorrent isn’t installed on my PC.
The paged and non-paged pool size seems excessive. It may not cover everything, but it could offer some insight. The non-paged pool isn't mapped in the usual way—it's not linked to processes or drivers directly. As a result, you typically rely on Poolmon and I favor using the GUI, specifically PoolmonX. Execute the tool, sort by KBytes, and if a high usage tag doesn't indicate which process or driver is using the data, capture a screenshot and share it here.
There are plenty of options, but I’m not sure how to go through this. I’ll start with the top. Thanks for your patience—I was really caught up and didn’t realize I needed assistance.
Yeah, sorry now it's not just the high RAM usage—it seems like most of my memory is being consumed by the cache. The only odd thing is how the crypto mining software behaves with Windows Defender; it hasn’t caused these problems before. I’m having trouble pinpointing what program is involved since it starts working normally for a while before things slow down and become erratic. It’s unclear which app is running at any given time. Windows Defender keeps flagging a few files repeatedly, but allowing them on the device doesn’t resolve the issue. Also, it looks like the CPU miner isn’t using nearly 50 gigabytes of cache memory.
From the view of Poolmon, the main focus is on Key Objects within Windows. The only other scenario I noticed is with VMWare solutions. Are you running any VMWare applications? The screenshot shows just about 1.2GB being used, which seems significant if your RAM levels up. I’d capture another image when memory usage increases. The Cached area isn’t considered active here; space is released immediately when needed.
