It’s helpful to know this. If you discovered a channel that performs well, keep it as is. Some older 802.11n or even 802.11ac devices (such as IoT gadgets or smart TVs) only detect signals on the lower 5GHz bands. You’ll need to review this periodically—every few months—to ensure neighbors aren’t interfering with your own signal. A simple wireless scan will suffice. Unfortunately, due to heavy usage in the 2.4GHz band, it’s best to avoid placing critical equipment there. Low-data devices like IoT appliances and older hardware can operate on 2.4GHz.
