As mentioned in the title, the system isn’t recognizing your microphone and is instead using the one built into your laptop. I’ve attempted to reinstall drivers, updated them through the control panel, checked Windows Update, but I’m unsure what else to try. I’m starting to feel overwhelmed about this issue. The laptop model I have is the Acer Aspire 7 A715-74G.

Your laptop has three 3.5mm jacks, with one for the microphone and one for audio.

Are you certain it wasn't displayed? Could it be present without being used? Do your headphones function properly on different devices with combo jacks?

I verified the control panel and confirmed it isn't disabled—it's simply missing. I assumed the issue was with the drivers or thinking it was just a headphone without a mic, but I can't modify it since updating them keeps the 2019 version active.

The Realtek console launches automatically upon detecting a connected headset. If it doesn’t, look up Realtek in your start menu. Check whether the jack was functioning before or if this is your first use. Confirm if Windows recognizes your laptop’s built-in microphone.

The jack functioned properly, but I encountered an issue in Valorant. I tried reinstalling the audio drivers, which caused the system to crash. When checking Realtek in the Start Menu, it wasn't listed.
