Windows 7 or 8 compatible with 2015?
Hey there, I'm planning to assemble a new PC in the coming days and wanted your thoughts on the operating system. I already have complete copies of Windows 7 and 8, but I haven't really used version 8 before. Any suggestions on whether to switch? What are your views comparing 7 and 8 overall? Which one do you prefer? There are also some more unusual options to consider. My build will focus on gaming and university work, with a GTX970 and an i5 4690k. Let's chat about it!
Windows 8 offers improved gaming performance, DirectX 12 support, quicker boot times, and efficient file transfers, along with extended assistance.
I strongly dislike Windows 8. Although there are many solutions for the complaints I have, I can't justify paying for an upgrade if I need to address several problems for little gain. For my clear preference, OS X Mountain Lion is the best choice.
I really enjoy 8 after adjusting the file associations so you don’t end up in a metro app. It’s quicker than 7 and no one bothers with the taskbar that’s a bad argument. Handling drivers and downloads feels much simpler, file transfers are faster, and that’s the case.
Windows 7 stops getting major support in 2015, then sees its removal in 2020 similar to what happened with XP earlier this year. For a potential free upgrade to Windows 10, Windows 8(.1) seems like a better option. I believe the current interface would benefit from some adjustments, making Windows 8.1 a more refined experience.
