I would choose Windows 8 because it runs quicker and includes Directx 12, while Windows 7's compatibility will soon stop.

I ABSOLUTELY love win 8, boot time so quick. No difference between win 8 or win 7 after you install classic start, get it from Ninite.com .

I’d prefer aero to return, I’m really against this boring flat appearance that ms has applied to windows.

Otherwise, some solid suggestions for Win8 include exploring new tools for better usability. For Rainmeter on Windows 8, it works well but may require some adjustments for optimal performance.

Windows 8 offers significant improvements over Windows 7, mainly by updating the default applications. The Metro apps aren't very user-friendly, making them hard to navigate. The start screen and menu setup are confusing, which is why many people defending Windows 7 are mistaken.

Windows 8 works well with all your peripherals. I kept it on my desktop because my mouse had sleep problems (Logitech M500 with/without SetPoint) and my USB-Wifi dongle also had issues. I’d use it more often if possible. Task Manager is useful, and boot times and performance are faster than 7.
