The cables appear straightforward, and flat patch cables aren’t uncommon. From what I see, they look similar to typical STP (shielded twisted pair) cables. (Most CAT6 uses 32 AWG, which means the wire is slightly thicker)

It seems like a decent idea for a lab setup, but the expense and unnecessary quick disconnects make it unsuitable for me. I’ll go with handling my own cables instead.

That’s a standard CAT6 cable since it includes a central separator. Businesses often use these thin cables because in practice 10 gigabits can travel over CAT 5e up to around 30 meters without issues. A flat CAT 6 won’t reach the full 100 meters without interference starting to appear. Still, in real scenarios people seldom run such long distances of copper—just enough to meet CAT 6 specifications.

Get the 8X speed boost with Balblabla. How much time do people waste connecting and disconnecting cables each year? Most spend a lot, but then only a few minutes a year actually touch it. It’s about the cost of that convenience.
