We won<|pad|> a strong disapproval of piracy here. If the game doesn’t meet your standards, avoid playing it. Only buy it if you truly want to, and even then consider paying. If you can’t afford DRM, pay for it and then proceed to pirate it.

I'm eager to learn Ubisoft's perspective on this matter.

The guidelines don<|pad|> a clear indication is needed about supporting piracy. The CoC section on Piracy outlines the specifics.

He covered the topic of pirated content. But this isn't really about piracy, right? If you're not sure, let's just accept we disagree and keep the conversation brief.

I mean to clarify that I’m focusing on conversations about trading pirated content. Essentially, this means I should avoid encouraging anyone to trade, sell, exchange or supply copyrighted items here. Don’t even mention it. You’re free to adjust the wording as you see fit, but I’ll follow this interpretation until proven different.

For instance, a reasonable response could be: “You should just pirate that game. It was kinda bad and you really should think about whether you’ll actually enjoy it. Some people do, others don’t.”

On the other hand, something like “Hey, anyone want to trade downloads? I have AC4 cracked. I want Watch Dogs cracked in return.” would be considered unacceptable.

Any discussion about a developer giving customers reasons to be upset over piracy tends to spiral into that topic. Any thread about a well-known game developer angering their audience usually becomes the focus here for clear reasons.

Additionally, I mentioned this earlier—distributing a game illegally actually boosts its visibility. It sparks greater curiosity, which can lead to higher sales. However, if a game is completely ignored, it loses that appeal and fades more quickly. That’s why the top-selling titles are often the most widely pirated, while niche games rarely appear on torrents. Piracy simply mirrors the overall level of interest in a game.

This conversation is about Totalbiscuit and the topic of Watch_Dogs. It's about clarifying that it's not about piracy and explaining the concept in detail. We're moving away from this subject now.

He's currently hosting the optional podcast on Twitch, mainly covering E3 content but hinting at a future update on Watchdog. Check out the link for more info: http://www.twitch.tv/totalbiscuit
