You should avoid altering the thermal paste. Working inside a mid-tower case can be quite delicate, so it's best to stay cautious. In the BIOS you might look for settings that help with stability or performance, but don't make any changes unless you're sure.
Upgraded to a board featuring a significantly bigger VRM package. The VRMs and CPU exchange heat via traces on the PCB, leading to elevated average temperatures. Certain thermal pastes may actually work better after a thorough burn-in. This process can require a few days to several weeks, depending on usage intensity. Your temperatures remain within acceptable ranges. Generally, there’s little we can do to address increasing transistor density.
In the past I might have used too much thermal paste, could this lead to another problem too? I was just checking if it was applied uniformly on the whole CPU.
It varies by amount. Generally, most components work best when pressed against the CPU die edge. Usually, a bit more improves performance compared to too little.
