The Windows 10 routine is nearly stopping the system completely
I've never attempted to run other tasks during the update process.
Every month I check the update site at my planned time and let it handle it.
It takes about 10 to 15 minutes, after which I return to my regular activities.
It doesn't seem to be hardware, but you can't be certain unless you swap it out. I'd also consider a complete reinstall of Windows if you haven't tried that yet.
Certainly, aim to set the limit around 50% to avoid overwhelming your resources. Unlimited indicates it will consume whatever is necessary for updates. Of course, a hardware engineer with 25 years of experience would grasp this, wouldn't they?
