I recently acquired a Ryzen 3900X for my 3D tasks. It runs on an X370 Auros K7 board with 32GB RAM. For better cooling, I use a Kraken M22 cooler. Everything is set at default settings, and I’m pleased with the performance. The only concern is the temperatures. Idle temps sit between 45-65°C. During heavy rendering (100% load), it reaches up to 95°C at around 4GHz. After researching online, I’ve noticed many users face problems with high temps on the new 3000 series chips due to excessive voltage draw from the CPU. I’ve tried swapping several coolers from other systems—the stock prism and Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED—but nothing worked. I’m thinking about upgrading to a 280mm AIO, as that’s what my case supports officially. However, I wonder if some modifications could allow fitting a 360mm AIO.
Would a 280mm AIO be sufficient to keep the 3900X cool? I often run rendering tasks for over an hour and even longer periods, and I want underload temps to stay below 75°C. Here are my full specs:

P.S. I understand the M22 isn’t ideal for this model, but I was running Ryzen 7 1800X in the same setup before its third-gen release and thought the stock prism cooler would suffice. I’ve updated all drivers and BIOS.
Have you considered reducing the CPU's voltage a bit? A small negative offset of around 0.050 volts could help.
I believe a substantial 120mm AIO is necessary to keep the 3900X running smoothly. Given you'll often run the system under heavy load, I recommend opting for a premium air cooler like the Dark Rock Pro 4 or NH-D15. They seem more dependable, though you should verify compatibility with your case. For liquid cooling, a 280mm AIO would be ideal; a 360mm model might be overkill unless you plan to heavily overclock your CPU—a scenario unlikely on third-gen Ryzen chips. Also, keep BIOS updates in mind, as many boards still supply excessive voltage to these processors. If you're aware of this, consider slightly undervolting your CPU in the BIOS settings.
120mm AIO tends to lag behind several air coolers during extended use. I agree with the NH-D15.
I'm running in full mode for the F@H challenge, aiming to reach the top 100. My setup includes a Corsair H150i Pro with Kryonaut thermal paste, and all fans are cranked to 100%. This should provide sufficient cooling, though it's currently holding at 95°C (the pump reports 43°C).
I've experimented with custom settings using Ryzen Master. I adjusted all cores to 4GHz at 1.275V, and the system ran smoothly under stress. When I revisited BIOS and reused the same configuration, the crashes persisted. Now, each time I restart, I open Ryzen Master and apply the identical profile. The highest temperature recorded during this setup is 85°C.
Seems suitable for a single 120mm radiator. At room temperature it reached around 70-75°C using prime95. With my 3900X and Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4, PBO enabled and ABBA bios, I hit about 70-75°C. My all-core temps stayed near 4.15-4.2GHz. In general, big air coolers tend to beat most AIOs in a well-ventilated setup.
This output comes from a Prim95 load. I'll follow up on the stock configuration shortly.
