Sorry to repop this topic, kind of...but just got my 3900x and was a little surprised by the temps, going from a 2600 that never got over 35c or so to peaking around 98c with the 3900x. Imo, more info is better...so here's another 3900x, under a slightly diff water setup. PBO off... 3900x stock, f@h set to 12 cores plus gpu...A240R EK setup...So includes my gpu, vega 56 on water as well. Setup is GPU gets cold water, then cpu gets sloppy seconds...When the 2600 was my cpu, that seemed like the right way to do it... Sitting at 83c cpu (max over the last 13 hrs...95c)... gpu (hotspot) 76c, gpu temp 49c (max 51), gpu vrm 58c.
For amusement after... I added another Vega 56 and a 420mm se. I found a water block on sale for the extra 56... then glued everything together. I adjusted the fans slightly so air is escaping from the 3 140s. For the 240 unit, I have an unusual setup—two 120s plus two 140s in the front of the case—which also helps airflow. This really disrupts my filters, pushing them against each other and reducing airflow. It’s making it hard to keep the watts steady. My PSU is struggling because it’s trying to draw power from inside the case while I’m working on a replacement. I have an 850G3 (should work fine... at least for now), but it’s spiking up to 800W when running full load. Voltages are dropping, which is why I’m focusing on this issue. I’m also noticing performance drops, so I’m searching for a suitable PSU—anything over 1000W with original pricing is rare, and most are either marked up or out of stock. @72f / 22c ambient Edit: Power limiter on the 56s is now at 0; previously it was set to 15 or 25 (location unclear from old screenshot). I understand this might be an outdated comment, but are you attempting to harm your CPU? On my 3900X running at full load with a 4.3GHz clock, I’ve kept temperatures below 70°F using a 240mm AIO.
