I’m not sure why you’d think that, but I’m curious about how it performs. Dual Xeons and gaming setups have different needs, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on the I7 6900K at 4GHz+ with watchdog features.
The numbers might look odd, but since you maintain similar performance across different configurations, it suggests your GPU is the main limiting factor. Even with a slower CPU, the results remain consistent.
GTA V seems tuned for better performance with multiple threads. I came across a YouTube video but couldn’t log in and didn’t find it again. They mentioned testing GTA V with all cores and threads active, then gradually turning off cores and Hyperthreading. As they reduced cores, CPU usage remained balanced across threads yet used more resources overall. I don’t remember the exact number of cores they disabled. From my experience, my system and a friend’s ran different specs—my machine has a 6600k @4.6GHz while theirs is a 6700k @4.5GHz—and my CPU often hits full usage, whereas his stays around 60%. It’s clear the game benefits from extra threads, even if just through Hyperthreading. Watch_Dogs 2’s Hardware Unboxed is checking graphics performance and should be ready soon. Steve from HUB mentioned he’s looking into CPU usage for WD2; I noticed my frame drops to about 40% when it reaches 100% in that game.
I’ve spent time tweaking it and still can’t get it to work smoothly. After multiple attempts, I’m now opting for a refund since the performance is completely poor—100% CPU and GPU usage, and frame rates drop below 30fps during intense moments. Clearly, something is wrong with the game’s code.
