So, Watch Dogs 2 just released moment ago and I'm excited about it. I downloaded the game, ran it and then bam! 100% utilization on all of my 16 Threads... Since this is an 18 cores chip, i decide to go enable the 10 core i disabled to gain clock speed... Wow... Load on all cores... This game consume CPU badly... While GTX 1070 running at 100%, I only got 65 fps on Ultra at 1080p (MSAA 2x) Here's my setup if you're curious Intel Xeon E5-2686 v3 Kingston HyperX DDR4 4x8GB 2400 MHz Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming ASUS X99-Pro USB 3.1
Check your performance at 1440P resolution and consider using faster processors rather than more cores. A 6800k running at 4.4/4.5GHz might deliver comparable or better FPS.
Approximately 30 to 40 units of performance across 8 and 18 cores environments
Activate every core and thread to assess performance metrics.
Watch Dogs 2 will likely run smoothly on a GTX 970, but performance may vary depending on your game settings and system load.
Uplay keeps showing "pre-loaded" status. It hasn't started playing yet. Current AAA games tend to avoid slow clock speeds. I don't remember the last time a high-end game ran smoothly on a powerful Xeon with many cores versus an upgraded i7. In fact, some titles have shown slower performance with more cores (like Cities Skylines). I'm really interested in checking the benchmarks for this game.
