Hey! I recently assembled my first AMD system in over a decade, opting for the AM5 setup to allow future upgrades and access to newer capabilities. The build includes: ASUS TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI (BIOS 1636 now, started with 1408 or later), AMD Ryzen 5 7600, AMD RADEON Sapphire RX 6800 XT, 32GB Corsair CMK32GX5M2D6000Z36 at 6000MHz CL36 (EXPO certified), and a Corsair RM1000e 1000W power supply. Right now I’m sticking to the EXPO BIOS without any overclocking attempts.

Over time, I’ve run into several problems with AMD EXPO. My machine frequently loops during startup, Windows either crashes or shows a blue screen. When it does start up, everything functions properly, but launching is inconsistent. I tried a workaround by lowering my RAM speed from 6000MHz to 5600MHz and manually adjusting the timings to those listed on the box. Disabling or enabling memory context restore didn’t help either.

I waited for a BIOS update to AGESA Combo AM5 PI 1.0.0.7b, believing it would fix the EXPO issues. After installing and enabling EXPO, the system booted perfectly the first time. However, the following day I experienced boot loops and failed post attempts again. I managed to get a successful post by using the default optimized settings.

This has led me to wonder—am I facing a problem with my hardware? Could it be due to faulty RAM or CPU? After three BIOS updates and multiple failed attempts, I’m leaning toward selling this build and rebuilding it with Intel instead.

Considered XMP but haven't used Expo; tried manual approach instead.

I lack the XMP file; I only possess three distinct EXPO accounts. I think I tried setting it manually, though it didn’t work well. Stability came when I lowered the clock speed to 5600MHz.

Right now it's all based on personal experience over the past nine months. Owning the platform has been smooth, especially during EXPO. I’m pretty confident Corsair’s current lineup isn’t worth it—they’ve had issues with their cheaper DDR4 models, and I’ve seen problems with their recent DDR5 under Zen4. On the other hand, G.Skill DDR5 with EXPO has consistently performed well and often comes at a lower cost. It was included in AMD’s initial reviews for their new platform, so if it works for them, it should work for us too. A Flare X5 EXPO kit with DDR5-6000CL30 costs about $98 in the US. I originally purchased 16GB Kingston RAM but received advice from a forum member to switch to 32GB Corsair instead due to potential problems. After returning the original module, issues emerged. The first Corsair kit functioned perfectly with D.O.C.P, yet I only used it for a couple of days—possibly the problem is with the product itself. EDIT: Can I send the RAM back to Corsair? Using EXPO might void my warranty, and I’m unsure if that’s acceptable? Are these concerns valid? G.Skill Flare X5, DDR5, 32GB, 6000MHz, CL32 (F56000J3238F16GX2FX5). I’m based in Poland; the price is around $130 for this set.

I believe there might have been a mix-up. The 16GB kits with dual 8GB modules aren't what you're looking for—go for the 32GB kits (two 16GB units) which are the norm now and work well. It depends on their return policy or the seller you purchased from. Using EXPO wouldn't affect this, as they can't track it.

Based on my recent experience and discussions on Discord support channels, the Hynix-related issues seem to be the most common ones encountered by G.Skill users. It appears this pattern is consistent over the past nine months.

They don’t have any way of understanding, but how am I swapping the RAM if all else seems fine except EXPO? You get the idea. And yes, I was talking about a kit that’s 2x8.

Completely in agreement. Although I’ve mainly relied on G. Skill for AM5, I’ve checked other forums where others face similar problems. You captured it most accurately, describing the situation and suggesting a practical fix based on real examples. Additionally, I’m confident with G. Skill for Intel and AM3 models—both are reliable choices now.
