Hello, your setup looks promising. The sockets you mentioned (PLGA 775 and LGA 775) are compatible with the Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300. You can likely install the two CPUs in place of the Celeron. Just make sure the motherboard supports dual processors and that you follow the installation instructions carefully.

Compatible sockets form only part of the picture. Both the chipset and BIOS must also support the CPU. In certain situations—such as with newer Ryzens—just a BIOS update might be enough to enable a newer CPU. But this depends on the manufacturer providing the update. For pre-built systems, manufacturers sometimes do the opposite. The BIOS could include a blacklist or whitelist that explicitly prevents specific CPUs or restricts them to very particular models. HP is an example of a company that does this.

Yes, you can try adjusting settings or consulting technical support to see if your Q8300 works properly.

Search for the motherboard's guide online. Check the chipset details and compatible CPUs. Verify if a BIOS update exists; otherwise, consider limitations due to hardware compatibility.

I don't have a motherboard, but I can help you find information about it if you tell me your system requirements or what you're building.

What hp model is this? Easier than with the random motherboard numbers it gets.

Sorry, there appears to be no Core 2 Quad compatibility. However, you can give it a try and observe recognition chances. MSI MS-7336 Ver 1.0 HP 441388-001 440567-002 Mainboard Socket 775 PCIe SATA details CPU features include Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe, Allendale), Intel Pentium Dual-Core (Allendale), Intel Pentium D (Smithfield, Presler), Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition (Gallatin, Prescott 2M), Intel Celeron Dual-Core (Allendale), and Intel Pentium 4 (Prescott, Prescott 2M, Cedar Mill). It also supports Intel Celeron (Conroe-L), Intel Celeron (Allendale), Intel Pentium 4 (Smithfield, Presler), and Intel Pentium 4 (Gallatin, Prescott 2M). The chipset is Intel 946GZ (Lakeport) / ICH7 (82801GB) with NB/SB interconnection via Direct Media Interface at 2 GB/s (4 lanes, 1 GB/s each way). It backs FSB 533/800 (133/200 MHz QDR), a 128-bit memory interface (Dual Channel), ACPI, USB 2.0/1.1, PCI Express 1.1, PCI v2.3, Serial ATA 3.0 Gbit/s, DDR2-SDRAM, up to 2 DIMMs DDR2 533/667, max 4 GB RAM, and 128-bit interface (Dual Channel). It includes support for Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI), Universal Serial Bus (USB 2.0/1.1), PCI Express, PCI v2.3, and the Graphics Intel GMA 3000 IGP. It also offers Vertex Shader Model 2.0, Pixel Shader Model 2.0/3.0 (software), Microsoft DirectX 9.0c, OpenGL 1.4, and compliant audio hardware including Intel HD Audio controller, Realtek ALC888, and ICH7 integrated Intel Pro/100 MAC. Additional features are 10/100M Fast Ethernet, internal I/O, multiple PCIe and SATA ports, and a 24-pin ATX power connector. BIOS is 8 MBit Flash EEPROM (PLCC32), and it runs on Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG with PNP support, APM, ACPI, DMI, and various connectivity options such as PS/2 keyboard, mouse, USB ports, VGA, RS-232, and more.
