Should I install the latest updates from the past two years or start fresh with a new Windows 11 version?
I own a Dell 5820 Workstation running Windows 11, purchased in October 2022. I haven’t used it for two years due to small font problems. I’m considering giving it another chance, which means downloading the latest updates—a process that could take a long time. Should I proceed with those updates or install Windows from scratch? Dell hasn’t released a Windows 11 disc or image. I would appreciate your advice and expertise on the best approach. Thank you.
You can simply keep it updating all day and/or overnight.
Windows Update generally doesn't disrupt my daily activities or offline gaming.
However, I wouldn't want an OEM version running on my system(s).
I would always install a brand new, directly from Microsoft version of the OS on any pre-built OEM setup.
You should still be able to adjust the font via Settings > Display to any size you prefer.
You can access the download page for Windows 11 at the provided link.
Why not? It's bloatware. I just bought this AW laptop... and I was considering a clean install of W11 Pro to eliminate the excess features.
This means you can keep it running all night, and it will apply all updates automatically?
Remember to save all crucial information at least twice in separate places away from the device. Check that it can be recovered and read properly. I hope everything proceeds smoothly. Still, unexpected events might occur and a broken update could make the system unusable.
