Playing a server that isn't modified using Spigot is ideal, or going with a fully modded one works too.

The 9100 offers better speed compared to the 3200G for most CPU-bound jobs and costs roughly the same.

Do you have a connection strong enough for this server? If not, consider spending your money on renting one instead.

This is a very very good idea a bunch of old dells, hps, lenovo's... out there with i5's or i7's and plenty of power for 5 players.

I believe I’m moving toward using a custom server without any add-ons.

Consider getting a refurbished Dell machine or adding more RAM if you have limited users.

It seems like you're suggesting opting for a service over something else. Would you like to clarify your preference?

I wouldn't because most offerings don't include modifications, though some provide mod packs and others have custom creations. Not sure about the OP's situation.

I'm considering switching to an older Dell or Lenovo and adding more RAM. Would that be sufficient for handling many modifications? Also, is it worthwhile to use Linux instead of Windows for this upgrade? You mentioned hearing that Linux offers better performance.

Sure, I understand. Creating a tailored modpack is something I’m open to. Using hosted platforms has been challenging for getting modded servers, so I’d prefer managing my own hosting.
