I own an RX 570 and have a budget for the B450M PRO M2 Max. I need some funds for the processor. Between two options, I can spend either $3500 or $3300. I only play games, not edit or multitask. Which should I pick? The 3300 offers better single-core performance but only 4 cores. The 3500 has 6 cores but weaker single-thread speed. A Reddit post mentioned AMD supports the B450 series up to 4000, and I want my motherboard to stay compatible for at least five years before a GPU upgrade in two years.

The 3300x performs just like the 3500 but with two fewer cores, so it’s likely I’ll opt for the 3600x in about five years if you can afford it.

3300x matches 3600 in gaming performance, making it the top choice. But B450 and X470 won’t work with the Ryzen 4000. You should use X570 or the latest B550. Also, considering your GPU, a 3300x is a budget model, and I wouldn’t expect great high-refresh-rate gaming for years to come.

If the offer lasts three years, you can use the 3100. You might purchase a new card later, then upgrade to a 4th or 5th generation after three years.

Right now the best option is 3100 at $120. After that, 3500 and 3300 are priced similarly at around $145 or $146, which are very close.
