What GPU are you using? For saving purposes, I suggest at least a Ryzen 5. Of course, a Ryzen 3 can handle games well, but it's important to think about the right setup. For instance, pairing a Nvidia 2080 Ti with a Ryzen might not be ideal for me. But combining a Nvidia GTX 1650 with a Ryzen 3 would be fine. As for the CPU, a Ryzen 3 3100 should definitely work for you in about two years.
My GPU is an RX 570 with 4GB RAM. After two years I plan to upgrade to a mid-range GPU. I’m looking for a CPU and a motherboard that will work well with the RX 570 and let me play at 1080p with 60 frames per second. For upcoming games I want medium or high settings, but not ultra performance.
If your budget allows, go with the Pro M2 and 3300x instead of upgrading the CPU. By the time you upgrade the graphics card enough to overcome the CPU limits, AM4 will likely be retired in 3 to 5 years. Also, the 3300x performs identically to the 6700k and 7700k, assuming they’re more affordable (unrealistic, but you’d want a cheaper option). If those aren’t available, opt for them instead.
I don’t have real-time pricing data, but I can suggest affordable options for a 3300X without overclocking that last about two years. Look for budget-friendly models from brands like MSI, ASUS, or Gigabyte. Check used marketplaces or retailers offering certified refurbished units.
I've noticed some A320M boards that work with the third-gen Ryzen and cost half as much as the B450 models. Can I get them for two years of gaming? The website I purchase from updates its BIOS regularly. I reach out to them to request an update, they open the package and install the new BIOS before sending it to me.
