I really want to purchase the 4th generation directly with a new motherboard in August or at the earliest opportunity. What I’m actually aiming for right now is someone offering my Intel dual-core CPU for $90 using my existing motherboard. I can’t find this deal again. However, accepting this means I’ll have to settle for the 3rd generation only. Is the 4th generation really future-proof? If it is, then I’ll decline selling my CPU for $90 and instead wait until December to save up more money before buying the 4th generation. But in this case, no one seems interested in my dual-core at that time.
As long as the motherboard includes everything you require, opt for the most affordable option. I own a Gigabyte A320M with an 1600AF chipset (purchased for $85) in one of my setups for a daughter. It’s a bit limited in fan headers and RAM, but it functions well with a R9 380.
I plan to purchase an A320M for $50 to complement my RX 570. With my current setup (8+4GB RAM) and two available slots, I’m fine. I can modify the system slightly to accommodate all fans—there are converters on the market that repurpose one SATA power pin from the SMPS into four fan slots. The only downside is that I won’t have direct control over them. Since I need a device lasting about two years and aiming for around 60 FPS, should I consider a 3100 processor? Because in my country the price difference is roughly $35.
