You're suggesting using the entire cooler and connecting it to the CPU fan header on your old system, but not physically installing it.

Tested it and everything appears to function properly. It might be that the header on the X470 is faulty. However, I connected PC case fans to one of the headers and they worked fine, so I'll look into it more closely.

Unfortunately, the attempt to take out the cooler caused the CPU to fall off, but luckily there were no bent pins. Unfortunately, the CPU seems stuck inside the cooler as if it were glued down.

thankfully am5 is a lga based socket, which means issues like that won't occur
