I’d just keep using my laptop or phone and see how it goes. I’d rely on that until I can start trusting anyone. And yeah, people like that always find a way. They usually leave once they’ve gotten what they wanted.

1)It is. 2)Usually tiny, smaller form factors would be better IMO 3)Depends on the campus, but there is always a chance; even if you have a really nice roommate he can have people over that come in and out frecuently, one day you have no phone or PC 4)Internet there sucks most of the times. 5)Yeah, but I feel they are kinda the same thing... My advice, build a PC that is compact and not very flashy, using Kensinton locks or similar is actually not a bad idea. Making a sleeper is good if you don't trust the environment.

That's true, the worry about someone taking pieces or information from it—or everything—would really stress me out.

It's tough to admit, but just seeing someone in the hall admire your new setup makes it easy for them to take it. Don't rely on people at college in your dorm.

Your availability hinges on the specific institution you attend. When I graduated, freshmen were all in pairs, but you might have better options. Still, you could consider waiting a year or more to secure housing if you can afford it or prefer a more comfortable living situation.

Obtain a tower from an older Windows 98 NEC model and assemble a powerful setup inside it without any visible openings. Keep the inner workings hidden from view.

The rooms have cameras in every shared area like corridors, so you don't have to be concerned

From all the feedback I’ve received, I’m relieved none of my friends are rude people. Since they’re staying with me at my college apartment, I kept my PC in the dorm room as well, and it stayed safe—thankfully.

The only thing that keeps people from taking something is one of three things: a gun with knowledge, a large dog, or awareness of your mother and a protective presence.
