PC Gaming in College
PC Gaming in College
I'm heading to college next year and wanted some tips on PC gaming while I'm there. I'm seeking advice, personal stories (both good and bad), and useful information. Here are my questions: Is a mid-tower desktop a good fit for dorm rooms? How is the desk layout and chair comfort? Do items get lost or damaged often? Are there usually wired Ethernet connections available? Are gaming laptops considered acceptable? Appreciate any help!
Well with any public housing your always risking your stuff being stolen or tampered with especially if your dorm mate is shady. I personally if i was in a dorm id look into a gaming laptop and keep it with you at all times. I know a lot of people who have mid-micro towers in their dorms but me personally i dont trust people unless ive known them for more than 5 years. A little tip password protect everything you have especially your computer.
It really seems like spending that amount on a gaming PC in a dorm would be a huge mistake unless you added some surveillance tech.
I’m heading to college next year too. I already have a mid tower installed. My campus provides room layouts and details about what’s included. Personally, and most schools, they offer Wi-Fi. We can choose to install an Ethernet port for $100, but I think it’s better to get a good Wi-Fi adapter instead. The rooms are secured, so only my roommates can access them. There should be space for a mid tower. I just bought a second graphics card.
It’s a good idea to use a gaming laptop for gaming purposes. My cousin just began his first semester at university, which is known for strong security measures. He took his computer there to begin the year and returned it during a break. He doesn’t plan to bring it back. There’s a lot of concern about it being stolen even in a secure setting.
