The requirement for manual updates applies to any DDR3 in any DDR3 slot, though this isn't always accurate. This becomes problematic when the DDR3 doesn't match specifications like a 1.5V supply or a 1600 MHz processor.

It's a 4GB memory module with 240 pins, DDR3, 1600 MHz, and CL9 1.5V. For updating the BIOS, check your motherboard manual or visit the manufacturer's website for the latest instructions.

get the bios file from the manufacturer's website for the MB model. Insert it onto a USB drive formatted as FAT32, then place it on the BIOS setup screen. Look for the option labeled "flashing" or "updating the BIOS."

What's your RAM situation? I've got some ideas and a few budget options for DDR3 that fit a 4GB minimum.

Yes, you'll likely need to transfer all data to an external hard drive first. Then you can securely erase the operating system before wiping it.

Also, your 2.21gb cap could stem from RAM being allocated to your GPU or iGPU.

Your motherboard's built-in graphics might be consuming a lot of memory as well.
