get the bios file from the manufacturer's website for the MB model. Insert it onto a USB drive formatted as FAT32, then place it on the BIOS setup screen. Look for the option labeled "flashing" or "updating the BIOS."
What's your RAM situation? I've got some ideas and a few budget options for DDR3 that fit a 4GB minimum.
Also, your 2.21gb cap could stem from RAM being allocated to your GPU or iGPU.
