Hey there, I’m weighing my options between the R5 2600 and 2600x. Since my motherboard is quite basic, I’m worried about compatibility. I think the 2600 (non-x) model works well because it's a 65W device, while the 2600x is a 95W unit. I’d pick the 2600 and run it; your board should handle it without issues.

the dp on the chip (65vs95) isn't significant. it simply indicates you have a 65w rated cooler versus a 95w rated one. actually, during overclocking, both the 2600 and 2600x models perform similarly and consume around 110w maximum.

Sadly I can't find the original case, but all clues (UEFI and labels on the motherboard) suggest it's not a 4.0 model. This photo was taken roughly a year ago during the build process

The rated power consumption of the component is listed for standard conditions. Remember this is the original spec, not an overclocked version. If your statement is accurate, devices like the AM3+ FX-9590 wouldn't have a wattage rating at all because they weren't designed with a cooling solution from the start. However, the 2600 model remains safe to use.
