At first, with 7 units set up, the One controller functioned properly. Many titles treated it simply as a Microsoft Controller for Windows. It continues to operate well on Windows 8.1. In Dolphin it appears as GAMEPAD_1 or similar.

Games that work with a controller on Windows rely on XInput for input. If your controller is compatible, you should be okay.

They won't function properly without driver solutions. A 360 controller would be more reliable. The Xbox One controller runs well on Windows 8.1. I'm uncertain about version 7, but a driver fix might help.

I own one and it functions perfectly. It needs a brief moment for the system to identify it, but once that’s done, all the games I’ve tried—Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, Portal 2, Grid Auto Sport, Batman: Arkham City, Arkham Asylum—work seamlessly for me.

Most racing games are easy to play with a budget controller. You already have a decent one for Xbox and PC, but you're considering upgrading for better performance without breaking the bank.

I've switched to my dual shock 4 permanently—it's really comfortable, and I'm using Bluetooth now. This comes from someone who moved to Xbox because they didn't like the PS2 controller.

You've just placed an order for an Xbox One controller and will update me once it arrives.

I received my XBone controller today. Connected it to my PC using a micro USB cable, and Windows 7 installed the drivers automatically. Playing Battleblock Theater worked perfectly. I’ll test it with other games soon. Hope this helps.

I had an Xbone controller this morning for Christmas, and everything is functioning flawlessly on Windows 7. It works instantly without any setup. It’s also battery-free because it connects via USB. It performed perfectly with Fez, though. Now I’m looking for more games focused on the controller.
