To obtain the free license, you need to upgrade first. This change won’t impact your PC except by preparing it for Windows 10. After upgrading, you can perform a clean installation and choose which partition to install Windows 10 on. You must upgrade initially in order to receive the free Windows 10 offer.

How do I get it cleaned? Just set it for an upgrade now.

If you don't change the partitions, they won't be impacted.

Sure, I'll go up to version 10 and then restore the settings.

The partitions remain unchanged unless the installer requests action on them. Windows will only set up on the chosen partition. Keep in mind you must upgrade to Windows 10 first. This process simply refreshes your existing installation. Once upgraded, you can perform a clean install. Again, it won’t delete your partitions unless you explicitly select them. Just pick the one you wish to use and everything should work.

Updating is now in progress. I followed the Windows update method... For a fresh installation, I need to perform a clean setup. After booting into Windows 10, I should remove all existing software and drivers before proceeding.

To perform a fresh setup, you need to create a Windows installation media—either a disc or a USB drive. The Windows upgrade tool handles this automatically. Choose the desired version and bit, then decide between a disc or USB. Afterward, burn the image or generate a bootable USB, restart your computer, and boot into it to begin the clean installation process.
