I recently purchased an ibuypower BB971, featuring a GeForce GTX 1660 graphics card and 8 gigabytes of memory. Initially, the system performed satisfactorily for two days; however, subsequently, I experience game crashes ranging from ten minutes to an hour of gameplay, followed by either a return to the desktop or complete system freezing. When games do function correctly, they exhibit significant lag. Occasionally, pop-up error messages appear indicating insufficient memory, or suggesting an outdated graphics card, though sometimes no message appears at all before the entire PC shuts down. When I initially purchased this system from Best Buy, a sales representative assured me that 8 GB of RAM would be sufficient, given my occasional streaming activities. Despite this information, games still crash even when only one application is running. I've contacted ibuypower support and was on hold for two hours, only to be informed that they can only provide assistance if the system is returned. Furthermore, Best Buy intends to charge me for diagnostic services. This situation has been incredibly irritating. I've attempted troubleshooting by updating Windows and my drivers, but the issues persist—I simply want to determine the root cause without resorting to reinstalling my operating system or sending the computer back to ibuypower. Thank you.

The system malfunctions. However, according to my understanding, iBuyPower requires payment for them to receive it? Best Buy intends to levy a fee simply to examine a newly purchased computer from their store? I concur with @rgd1101 – if the seller and retailer are creating such obstacles, return it.

Should you acquire your computer from Best Buy, they are obligated to assess the issue without charge. Furthermore, iBUYPOWER will likely necessitate payment for delivery – potentially requiring reimbursement if you need to send it back.

This is one of several compelling arguments against purchasing from them.

Also, out of curiosity, how much did you pay for it? And what are the other specs (CPU, storage, etc)?

Thank you for your feedback! I acquired it at a discounted price of $650 from Best Buy. Here are the specifications that I’m aware of: Intel Core i5-9400F processor – 8 Gigabytes of RAM – NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 graphics card – 1 Terabyte Hard Disk Drive plus a 240 Gigabyte Solid State Drive - Black color.

I understand your decision; that’s a remarkably attractive deal considering the included components. I’ve occasionally needed assistance from Dell in the past, and their support has consistently been prompt and dependable. However, I haven’t discovered anything matching that same value and configuration elsewhere.

A more expensive alternative with superior service is this:
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/del...-d...vmstcs042s
At $899, after applying the 50off699 discount, you’d need to add approximately $200-$220 for a GTX 1660.

It features an i7-9700 processor with 16GB of RAM, but lacks a solid-state drive.

Alternatively, there’s an option slightly closer to your iBuyPower suggestion:
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-des...vmstcr003s
For $749, after the discount, it includes an i5-9400 processor, 16GB of RAM, and no SSD. You’d still need to purchase the GTX 1660 separately.

You could certainly obtain the graphics card from Dell, but they demand $300 for it—a price considerably lower options are available for around $200-$220.

Dell occasionally runs promotional sales if you don’t require immediate service.

Are you suggesting you want to swap it for something improved?

I believe that's accurate—I find iBuyPower’s “we’ll ship it to you if we made a mistake” approach unsatisfactory, and the general lack of accountability between iBuyPower and Best Buy is also concerning.
