This Intel Octa-Core hyper-threaded processor is too powerful, particularly the 6950X model.

I understand, this was only for reference. The 6950X has even more power (10 cores, 20 threads).

If you have the budget, this setup looks solid: a PCPartPicker list with cost details by seller. Components include an AMD FX-4300 CPU ($77.89 at OutletPC), a Cooler Master cooler ($24.88), an Asus motherboard ($36.98), 8GB DDR3 memory ($38.99), a MSI GTX 1050 card ($109.99), and a Rosewill case ($24.99). The power supply is EVGA 450W, and everything totals around $338.71 after fees. All prices reflect shipping, taxes, and any available discounts. Created by PCPartPicker on November 11, 2016.

I assembled it quickly and it’s an overkill AF for under a 6950X. Adding about $200 for a desk brings the total to under a 6950X.
