I understand the socket is quite old, especially for servers. However, it still features a 3GHz quad-core processor. I could possibly upgrade to an AMD FX chip for a slight performance boost, or move to a 4GHz quad-core or better option.

Yes, I understand. Hyper Threading and cores are more important to me. AMD really delivers raw performance.
