my AV is running Avast Premium, and I've just reinstalled and removed some old games, which has freed up some space on it.

Turn off avast and verify windef is active. Reboot/await/start UBM...provide a link.

Hold on. You mentioned having 2400ghz RAM and a screen shot displaying 2400 in Task Manager, yet you claim XMP was off. Did you adjust the RAM settings before or manually tweak frequencies to reach 2400? Also, how does the task manager reading change now that XMP is enabled?

the new readings from task manager show the same game with the same screenshot, taken a few hours after the slime rancher ones. i believe i enabled xmp for that one but not for the others. sorry for any mix-up.

Nothing significant occurred.
The gaming score improved noticeably.
Your decision is up to you if you wish to use avast.
The win defense appears solid and comes pre-installed.
To date, I haven’t found a reason to seek another antivirus.
Perform a scan with crystaldiskinfo and share a screenshot for each disk.

Yeah, I like it too because I'm also using some of their other products. If the PC runs smoothly, the small slowdown won't be an issue.

All three disks are displaying an issue. The OS disk is operating on PCIe2, not PCIe3. Both HDDs are showing a warning. Please decide how you'd like to handle this.

to the best of my understanding, drives don't really impact the game in FPS, although loading times and similar issues might be the real cause. i plan to check the os drive and ensure it's running on pcie3.
