High-speed showdown between PC and console at 30 frames per second.
Hey everyone! I’m a new PC gamer who’s been moving from the console for about a month now. I’m really happy with my setup—4790k+970—and I’m definitely glad I joined the PC community. But I’m running into some issues that are hard to figure out, no matter how much I search online. The biggest problem is that my PC consistently only hits around 30 frames per second during intense battles, like in Shadow of Mordor or GTA. Sure, 30fps isn’t great, but it feels smoother than the console’s 30fps cap. For me, the PC still lags noticeably compared to the console.
I use the same monitor—ASUS MX279H—and someone suggested it might be related to motion blur. I’ve increased it to the highest setting, but it’s still a lot slower than the console. I also checked different refresh rates: running GTA5 at 50fps on both 50Hz and 60Hz gave me a smoother experience at 50Hz. That makes me think maybe the monitor’s refresh rate is the key factor.
I tried playing GTA5 at 60Hz on a 60Hz monitor, but it still feels laggy. I’ve heard about G-Sync tech and how it can make 30fps look almost perfect. It seems like when the frame rate drops below 60fps, it becomes really noticeable. I’m not sure why 30fps on a higher refresh rate setup feels so choppy, especially with V-sync enabled.
So far, I’m enjoying PC gaming, but 60fps is becoming a hard limit. I can’t play GTA5 on my PS4 anymore, and I’m getting frustrated. If you don’t understand English well, don’t worry—I’ll keep trying to explain everything clearly. Thanks for your help!
No, consoles are not strictly limited to 30 frames per second. They can run at various frame rates depending on the game and system capabilities.
since developers focus on consoles, they can fine-tune games more effectively thanks to porting and compatibility. the main goal of using a PC isn't necessarily to hit 30fps, so it's not a huge concern.
I attempted to cap my FPS at 30 on the PC, yet performance remains significantly lower than what the console achieves with V-sync enabled.
PC MASTER RACE EXPLAINED. Important point, I started the master race last month with a 4460 and 970, and I really enjoy it.
They offer lower quality settings (the Xbox One is no exception). I believe certain gaming systems can exceed 30 frames per second, but Vsync limits it to 30 FPS. Honestly, some consoles experience lag occasionally, and their visuals look much weaker than on PC. Additionally, they can tailor their performance to match the console’s capabilities, whereas PCs have varying hardware that might affect smooth operation across different machines.
Hey there! Welcome to the PCMasterRace. I bought the 4460 and switched to the 4790K for games like ACU and GTA5—my 4460 is struggling now, especially when driving fast on the road. It’s tough to handle that kind of speed!
