Hi everyone, I haven't built a computer for years. My current PC is from 2018. I love playing RPGs like Fallout, Cyberpunk, and Skyrim, so I wanted to check this link: https://dk.pcpartpicker.com/user/P3nnyw1se/saved/rMqF4D I was hoping you could point out any mistakes I made. Someone told me I should get a motherboard that supports PCIe 5.0 like the B650, so I went away from it instead.

I don't think that CPU is worth it, but you should decide what to buy. Here are the parts I picked for my setup:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X with a speed of 3.9 GHz and 6 cores (costs 1699 kr at Proshop)
Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 fan that blows good air (costs 488 kr at Proshop)
Motherboard: ASRock B850 Steel Legend with WiFi for a new computer socket (costs 1691 kr at Proshop)
RAM: Kingston FURY Beast RGB has 32 GB of fast memory in two sticks (costs 990 kr at Computersalg)
Hard Drive: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X is a big, fast SSD with 2 TB of storage for your games and files (costs 1099 kr at Proshop)
Graphics Card: XFX Swift Radeon RX 9070 XT has 16 GB of power to show off the screen better (costs 5895 kr at Proshop)
Chassis: Lian Li LANCOOL 216 RGB is a nice metal case that holds all these things well (costs 938 kr at Proshop)
Power Supply: SeaSonic Focus GX V4 is a strong power box for the CPU and graphics card (costs 1198 kr at Computersalg)

Everything adds up to 13998 kr in total. The prices include shipping, taxes, and any sales discounts that happened when I bought these items last week. This list was made by PCPartPicker on May 29, 2025.

I like the XFX Swift Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card. Is it more budget? maybe I should ask that too, since you went down to an b850. That card doesn't support PCIE 5 right? It might cause some problems later on, but don't worry about it if you just want a better card.

A 9800x3d is a good buy. It hits lower lows better than the 9700x and works faster for normal tasks. That RAM won't cool down with that cooler, so it's overpriced. The case looks nice but costs too much, and its mesh side panel blocks seeing your other white parts. You should also get a 1TB SSD for your OS and apps, plus a 2TB one for games. Here is what you're getting:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D at 4.7 GHz with 8 cores (about 3,890 kr from Proshop)
- Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 White at 66.17 CFM (about 66.17 kr)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE ATX on AM5 socket (around 1,745 kr from Alternate)
- RAM: Kingston FURY Beast RGB 32 GB using two 16 GB sticks at DDR5-6000 CL30 (roughly 990 kr from Computersalg)
- SSDs: Two Western Digital WD_Black SN850X drives. The 1TB one is 713 kr, and the 2TB version costs 1,099 kr both from Proshop and Computersalg respectively
- GPU: ASRock Steel Legend Radeon RX 9070 XT with 16 GB of video memory (5,790 kr from Proshop)
- Case: Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower for about 692 kr from Alternate
- Power Supply: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 rated at 850 W with 80+ Gold certification (1,040 kr from Computersalg)

Total comes to 15,959 kr. The prices include shipping, taxes, and any available discounts. This list was made by PCPartPicker on May 29, 2025 in CEST+02:00 time zone.

@logainofhades, can I ask about the motherboard? You recommend b850 now, but I don't know much about this yet. Some forums said "that's not pcie 5" and you have a piece5 GPU... so why not pay an extra $50 for a new motherboard that supports it? <-- Does that make sense to you?

Here are two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots (PCIE1), with support for X16 mode on cards from ASROCK or XFX. It really just depends on what you like to use. I personally prefer the look of an XFX card, and it seems like it has a more powerful cooling system based on its size alone. Even though the heatsink might be smaller, ASROCK could still have better overall cooling if that's your preference. However, please do your own research and make sure you choose wisely for yourself.

Gen 5 is probably not needed right now. Even a card like a 4090 can't fully use the bus because it has to wait for Gen 5 on that slot. So this board still has both a Gen 5 GPU and top-tier M.2 support, even if it doesn't include the latest chipset yet. Here is the link:

The 9800X3D isn't that much faster than the 9700X. It's barely 10% faster in both gaming and apps, with only a tiny bit of difference at low settings. If you want more power but can't afford an expensive chip, getting a better GPU like a RTX 5080 would be smarter, especially if you play at high resolutions or use strong RAM. Those memory options are way too pricey on their own, so why not get two sticks that are twice as fast for less?

The only thing I'm worried about is the RAM. I should look for low profile RAM so that those big heat sinks don't block my dual tower CPU cooler.
