You don’t need a Windows 10 account with the same username as your laptop login, because once you follow the steps I shared, connecting from your laptop to your Windows 10 device will prompt for your credentials—your Windows 10 password and username.

That doesn't tell me anything at all, just a visual way of saying it's not connecting. Please follow the steps and the other stuff I've said above, if not I'm wasting my time here. It's not going to magically show up on your network, you have to tell it the address that the computer is at that you're trying to connect to and then verify (credentials) that you are allowed to access that computer.
