When the vcore is at 1.334V and the chip runs at 4.7GHz, you're clearly using very efficient silicon. The highest speed I've achieved for my FX-8350 was 4.7GHz at 1.5V, which was the top model I owned. If temperature becomes the main constraint, upgrading to a better cooler would be worth considering. I also used a push-pull 212 EVO on my system before that, and earlier I had a Corsair H60 liquid cooler—both gave similar performance.
Are you certain it's not throttling? You might achieve impressive clock speeds if one or more cores are slowing down.
I don’t believe it’s throttling? My temps never go above 57°C.
👍 It would make sense to opt for a superior cooler or slightly raise the core temperatures using the 212 EVO. A brief spike below 60°C is acceptable according to my perspective.
I’m sure you’re aiming for solid performance, and upgrading your cooler could definitely make a difference. Even a small increase like 0.3ghz might add a clear improvement in frame rates on your RTX 2070.
If increasing from 4.7 to 5.1 only adds a couple of frames per second, it doesn’t seem like a good investment for me.
