Fps reduces slowly during gameplay
I'm still getting familiar with my new setup, but I've noticed my FPS dropping steadily over the past hour or so. It's not just brief dips but a gradual decline to around 60-70 FPS, making the game hard to play. I checked everything—no dust, temperatures are normal, and my drivers seem fine after reinstalling. I've tried using MSI Afterburner to monitor GPU usage, which showed the GPU at 99% and CPU at 70%. I've run virus scans too, but nothing suspicious. My specs look good: an i5 CPU, GTX 660 GPU, decent RAM, SSD, and Windows 8.1. What should I do next?
While enjoying the game, look at the "Core Clock" graph in MSI Afterburner. Notice if it's decreasing over time, even though your temperatures seem okay. Hmmm.
It seems like you're encountering a restriction or limitation in the tech space, but it's good to know you're just starting out.
A few months back I faced issues with Battlefield 4, my RAM wasn't clearing properly and filled up over about 15 to 30 minutes. My performance slowly declined until the game became nearly unusable. Have you looked at your RAM usage while playing? It’s unlikely you have the same problem, but it’s better to be safe.
I don’t have many games. The ones I own are Minecraft, Battlefield 3, Payday 2, and TF2. Currently, the FPS drop is only noticeable in Battlefield; on the others, I lose about 5 FPS in a few hours, but I can’t play more than 30 minutes. I think Battlefield might be more demanding and could be affecting my hardware.
