70c marks the throttling limit for 600 series cards. Confirm you haven’t missed the maximum Core clock reached?

Is 70°C the actual throttling limit? I'm pretty sure the temperature stays in the 70s during play.

I remember when I first tried to push my 670's, the temperatures would gradually climb to around 70°C in-game and I noticed a significant drop in performance.
