Hello, I understand you're planning to assemble a new PC and are considering the 4070 GPU. You're evaluating Ryzen 5 5600X and Ryzen 7 7700 options, with the latter being more expensive than your budget for the CPU. Could you share some recommendations on suitable motherboards and CPUs that fit this setup?

what are your intentions for the system; gaming, video production, basic tasks, etc.? if gaming, what standard of quality do you anticipate for different types of games?

Hey there,
At 1080p, yes there is a small bottlneck. But not how you might think. Really the term 'bottleneck' is a bit of a misnomer.
At 1440p and above, there is little to no bottleneck. That res, 1440p, is where your card is at, so it's actually a decent enough match with the 5600x/4070 combo,
Mobo wise, any decent B550 with at least 8+ power phases will be good, This resource here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...li=1#gid=0
will help you choose something decent.
Arguably, the 5700x or even the 5800x3d is what I'd suggest for the AM4 Socket. The 7700 is AM5/DDR5, so more cost for sure.

Focus is on 1440p gaming, I need a system that stays the same for a while so I can play AAA games without constantly adjusting to lower settings.

very nice chart, thanks for the info. I was thinking about the 5700x but it looks like a much lower performance boost compared to the 5600x based on this: I would have gone for the 5800x3d since it's the most recommended for the 4070, but it's quite costly in my country around 500$.

the 4070 will require several adjustments to achieve better performance in the toughest games at 1440p. as time progresses, this will become increasingly important, particularly when using RT effects and the newest graphics advancements.

Currently using 2060, I'm playing cyberpunk at 20-30fps with low graphics at 1080p. The 4070 will definitely provide a significant improvement.

"Bottleneck" only becomes relevant when the system doesn't reach the desired performance. Regardless, if you can afford an upgraded model, choose the newer and superior one. Or if you need something more tailored: the AM4 socket is a dead end. If you're purchasing now, it's better to invest in the 5800X3D instead of a Ryzen 7700. The 7600X will also function adequately here.

A significant improvement over the RTX 2060 @1080p, though reduced performance at 1440p with Ray Tracing for better frame rates. DLSS using top settings will certainly assist, but many would also think that even lower resolutions could maintain frames as the resolution adjusts. Activating Path Tracing and similar features will push you closer to 20-30fps without a high-end CPU or more powerful GPU. As games progress over time, keeping this system in mind means these settings and effects will become increasingly challenging.

I checked the 7700 because I saw it on sale and it's priced around 250$. It's the same as the MPK.
