Facing slow gameplay in CS2 with a high-end build
Thank you for your thoughtful reply and recommendations. I plan to revert to previous NVIDIA drivers. So far, CS2 remains the only game that presents real challenges, while other titles run smoothly without major problems. I used the GPU-Z tool you mentioned, but it consistently shows idle status during gameplay. For a brief moment in the screenshot, the initial green line read "Pwr" and the green/pink line displayed "Pwr, Thrm." Searching online, others reported that idle mode means the GPU isn’t active, which is surprising given the monitors are connected and the other sensors confirm high power usage.
Exactly, so I performed a clean Windows reinstall, thinking there might be something unusual or a hidden problem behind it. Yet after the fresh setup, only Steam and CS2 remain on the PC, plus the NVIDIA App, and it still feels slow. Writing this was my final attempt to fix things.
Average 240 fps would be great! Right now I'm around 160-180 fps. Even after boosting my CPU from 4.5GHz to 4.7GHz, there was no noticeable improvement, which suggests the CPU isn't limiting performance or that the overclock didn’t make a difference. I believe my frame rate has always been this way, but I just became more aware of it after switching to a 1440p 240Hz monitor from a 1080p 144Hz one.
It seems the performance dropped due to higher resolution, hitting the GPU limit. Could you share your CPU and GPU usage while playing?
It isn't a bad game overall, though it isn't perfect. Your stats seem reasonable compared to what TPU reported for their 3070 Ti. I think you should focus first on the CPU and RAM, not just because they might be limiting, but also since a quicker processor could help with certain tasks even if drivers or code aren't optimized. This makes sense too, given that adjusting resolution or visuals doesn’t affect your FPS—if the GPU were the issue, higher settings would likely boost performance.
CS2 scores on a 10600k are challenging to find. Some lists exist, with FPS ranging from 300-400 and above, while others show lower numbers around 150-200.
Maybe I'm too simple-minded and think my setup should run faster? I'm not sure if the speed I see is what I should actually expect. If that's the case, upgrading might be necessary

It's accurate that the CPU appears to be the limiting factor. My initial concern was based on per-core utilization, but upon reviewing it, none of the cores exceeded 70%. Since the game relies heavily on single-core performance, I would have anticipated seeing at least one or two cores operating at full capacity if the CPU were the constraint.
