Hey there! I'm currently troubleshooting an issue I have, where my system can't seem to perform very well in Counter-Strike 2. My system runs on: - A completely fresh Win11 install - i5-10600k - 16GB of 3200MHz DDR4 - ASUS TUF RTX 3070 Ti - 750W PSU - 1440p 240hz monitor - Game is installed on an NVME SSD I'm pulling an average of 160-180fps, sometimes I go above 200fps, but I experience drastic drops to 130-140fps at times. Here's what I've tried, with some confusing discoveries: - My GPU drivers are up-to-date. The Win11 was freshly installed today, and GPU drivers updated as the first thing, using the NVIDIA App. - Monitoring my system through HWInfo64, I see: CPU Temps are ranging between 40-60 degrees GPU Temps are ranging between 50-60 degrees GPU Hotspot temps are ranging between 75-85 degrees None of my CPU cores are above 70% usage Only 6GB (out of 8GB) VRAM is being used GPU Usage is about 60-70% with a clock speed of 1700MHz 6GB of my 16GB RAM is being used - Changing resolutions in-game doesn't affect FPS at all, tried going from 1440p to 1080p, even tried 1280x960 4:3 resolutions - In suspicion of CPU bottleneck, I tried overclocking my 10600k, with no increase to FPS. After this, I saw in HWInfo that none of the cores are above 70% usage, which then indicate there isn't a bottleneck. - XMP is enabled. - I've messed with NVIDIA Control Panel settings, to many suggested settings seen in other forums. - I've messed with the game's launch parameters, nothing affects my FPS. - Yes, my monitor is plugged into my GPU - VSync and GSync is off I'm sure everyone is tired of these posts, but I'm not sure what else there is to do, when nothing seems to solve the problem, and the issue isn't clear. It would be easier if I knew where the bottleneck was, but since no CPU cores are used to the max, and neither is my GPU, I'm not sure what to think. Especially confused when none of the graphic settings, whether it be resolution or general settings, seem to make any sort of difference. Do anybody have a clue, any fixes, or suggestions? Very thankful in advance.

Sure, I can do that. Let me know what you'd like me to elaborate on.

I don't have a motherboard, but I can help you find information about it if you tell me your system requirements or what you're building.

I hope I can provide a clear response, though it seems unpredictable. It might be specific areas in the maps you use that cause your FPS to drop significantly.

Well, initially the Nvidia drivers are problematic after the release of 50 series cards. You might attempt to install an older driver (perhaps from the end of 2024) or just wait for Nvidia to fix the issues. Have you tried playing other games? Regarding performance in those titles, the problem could stem from the game itself—it's not uncommon for this to happen before. What is your monitor’s refresh rate? The ideal frame rate matches your monitor’s refresh rate. That’s why Vsync, FreeSync, and Gsync are useful options. They all seem effective. Your system appears to be functioning properly. Are you familiar with the GPU-z utility? Run it and open the Sensors tab. Play your game and, while doing so (or after using a single monitor), verify the PerfCapReason setting. It will indicate what’s restricting your GPU performance. Good luck!

It might be anything at all—like unusual particle effects straining your GPU or CPU, hidden background rendering, a driver issue from code flaws, or the processor reaching its limit even if usage seems okay.

At 1440p your output looks typical on CS2 with a 10600K; I’ve seen older GN benchmarks showing around 240 average/150 1%/120 0.1%. At 1080p, you should reduce that by about 30-40% and it matches closely. Have you experienced better performance at any point before?
