Hello, I’m experiencing an issue with my Ryzen 3600x. When idle it stays at around 68.69°C, but during games it rises to 71–80°C depending on the title. This behavior is consistent whether I use a Corsair AIO or a stock fan. I’ve updated the BIOS, chipset, and installed a fresh Windows 10, yet the temperatures remain unchanged. I’m using ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero MSI GeForce RTX 2080 GAMING X TRIO with AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, Corsair iCUE H100i RGB PRO XT 240mm or Ryzen Prism Cooler Arctic MX-4 2019 Thermal Compound Paste.
During those elevated idle conditions, the actual temperatures during operation are more important. Your readings are well within safe limits and won’t rise significantly. They might reach the 90s before any issues arise.
They seem fine at higher temps, but when things are idle it gets too warm. Could something be wrong with the setup? It hasn’t happened before for me.
All BIOS/Chipser/OS updates are installed and the Ryzen Master shows 70*C idle. This might mean the cooler isn’t secured correctly, the paste application isn’t working well, or your custom tools are overloading the system, pushing it into maximum power mode—a frequent problem with Corsair, NZXT, and similar brands due to their software design.
When idle periods aren't an issue, temperature readings for loads remain acceptable.
It's unusual that the same situation occurs with the stock fan.
