I've faced several crashes across many games lately. They happen unpredictably but follow a pattern. My system specs are pretty standard: MSI B550 Gaming Carbon Wi-Fi, Ryzen 5 5800X, stock speeds with PBO enabled, EVGA CLC 240 AIO, 32GB x4 at 3200MHz, CL16, and an EVGA RTX 3080 X3 with 12GB and 750W Supernova.
After reinstalling Windows, I tried updating drivers and then more updates. The crashes kept coming up—games would freeze or freeze without any warning. It mostly affected titles like RDR2, Black Ops Cold War, BO4, Far Cry 6, and a few others. Some games worked fine, such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (after the fresh install), and I couldn't pinpoint the problem.
I thought it might be related to my motherboard, but after reinstalling drivers and doing a clean install via Nvidia, my GPU would lock at 210MHz. I rebooted into safe mode, used DDU, and tried reinstalling drivers with Ethernet unplugged. That helped a bit, but the issue persisted.
I suspect it could be a MOBO problem since I rarely post anything, but sometimes it hangs on VGA with the little lights. It also happened on my RTX 2070. I’m not sure if the graphics card was the real cause, even though MSI mentioned it. Since I don’t have another card to test, I’m stuck.

Turn off PBO and adjust memory timings to 18. Check if this improves the issue. Also, are you using any GPU-related software or apps that might influence the voltage curve?
Sure, I’ll check that for you. Right now I’m using EVGA Precision, but since I only have it running, I’ll adjust the aggressive fan curve to suit the situation.
I've also experienced some strange issues with my system recently. There are now unexpected blue screens whenever I haven't noticed them before. Occasionally, posts don't appear when the MOBO fails, citing GPU problems, but sometimes it works and then stops again—this has happened with two different graphics cards. Once I left my PC on while watching a movie and fell asleep, I woke up to a black screen because of VGA issues, and Windows logged a BSOD before that. I'm starting to feel the urge to return my MOBO and buy one from another brand. I know Asus is reliable, but this is my first MSI motherboard, and I've had quite a few oddities lately.
