I'm not trying to chase frames, just want my RAM to perform at its best. I currently have a 32GB system with 3200MHz DDR3 C16 modules installed.

Hi, I'm going through some tough times after installing a solid 4K PC with 4x8Gb RAM modules from the Patriot Viper Steel 4400 Mhz (PVS416G440C9K). The other components are: CPU - Ryzen 9 5900X, Motherboard - MSI MPG X570S Carbon Max WiFi, and the operating system is Windows 11 Pro. After reading some tips from a local tech forum, I experimented with manual settings. I adjusted the DRAM frequency several times: changed the base frequency, voltage, CAS latency, and timing parameters. The PC wouldn't boot properly afterward, so I reset the CMOS twice. I've been using the BIOS A-XMP presets for DDR4 4400MHz, which are set to 19-19-19-39. Even though I changed both presets multiple times without any change in frequency, the system still stuck at 2133 MHz. I also used a ZT screen with four values per module, matching A1/A2 and A2/A1 but differing slightly in RDWR counts. I bought these RAM sticks twice within ten days. For guidance, could you suggest the best settings for manual tweaking? It would be great if you could give simple steps without much technical jargon. Thanks a lot!

I came here to share this experience and thank you a lot. I got some gear from a friend at a discount because he was about to switch (MSI x570 Tomahawk, Ryzen 9 5950X, 4x8GB Viper Patriot 4400 CL19). As someone who works with Intel, I used to just jump into the BIOS, pick an XMP profile for my RAM, and that was enough. But this wasn’t the case here. I’m not sure who to blame—maybe it’s the hardware or my inexperience. No matter which XMP setting I tried, I kept getting three long beeps and a reboot to default. Everyone on forums said the same thing: simple steps, but nothing worked. My friend helped me figure it out by choosing the 3600MHz CL18 1800FCLK profile... whatever that means. If I wanted higher speeds, I tried 3800, but the board just froze in a kind of sleep mode and didn’t complain much, though it didn’t boot well at all. I had to reset the CMOS manually. Thanks for your patience—I really appreciate it.
