Dark Souls III on GTX 690 platform
Dark Souls III on GTX 690 platform
Hello everyone, I just installed the newest driver from Nvidia and saw the game ready profile for Dark Souls III. As a big fan of Dark Souls II, I’m excited to try Dark Souls III too. The recommended specs are an i7 3770 and a GTX 970. On my setup there’s an i7 3930K @ 4GHz and a GTX 690 2x2GB. My main rig has an i7 4790K @ 4.7GHz and a GTX 980 Ti, which is more than enough for the game. I’m wondering if I can run DS3 at full settings in 1080p and what adjustments I’d need to make if not. At least they created an SLI profile for DS3 =) Thanks for your tips!
Honestly, the 690 doesn't outpace the 980 Ti. That's why I went up ^^
Yes, some players have shared their experiences using a 2GB GPU in the beta version.
You're likely facing VRAM shortages. Also, games from Soft should generally work fine with SLI or CF, but performance might be limited to around 960 to 780 frames.
It's mainly because the GTX 690 is quite costly, and I don't want to sacrifice gaming quality. The VRAM limitation makes it feel outdated compared to the 680, which had a more affordable 4GB option. Dark Souls III doesn’t look great with its graphics, so I’d like it to run smoothly on that hardware.
