Hello everyone, I'm beginning this message since I couldn't locate anything online about this. All previous posts seem outdated and ineffective. As described in the title, my CPU usage—especially on the BF1—has skyrocketed. Initially, it was around 17-20%. Now it's hitting 70-100%. After a fresh Windows 10 installation with all drivers updated, I even returned my GTX 1080 for repair because of the FPS drops and audio issues. It turned out the problem wasn't the graphics card but the excessive CPU load. Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.

Check your processor model and settings. You mentioned an i7 6700K with high usage. Let me know the exact details!

BF1 is a demanding CPU game, everything appears normal. Which processor are you using? I assume it should be quite powerful given your 1080. Since you run it uncapped, it will stress your components until they can't deliver any more frames, which means performance drops significantly. The usage spikes dramatically for me too, and with a 4.4Ghz on a 5820kHz, that’s essentially the limit. If you play at higher refresh rates above 60Hz, cap the game to 60fps and it should work fine.

According to the problems you mention, it seems you likely have an i5. Performance in gaming can be affected by multithreading, which may cause issues with 4C/4T processors—so in 2017 the R5 was a better choice. If you don’t set limits, your parts will run at maximum capacity and achieve the highest possible frames. For best results, consider enabling FPS or V sync on a 60 Hz monitor.

I've added my specs to the profile but it still doesn't show up... so I'm using a Core i7-6800K with 4.0Ghz (XMP profile), base 3.6Ghz, AMD Rampage V Edition 10, 48GB DDR4 3333MHz motherboard, Corsair Dominator Platinum GTX 1080, and other components listed.

Nothing seems to be amiss, just a bit of high CPU usage.

According to the specifications, this setup likely generates excessive frames for your display. Turning on V sync should resolve the issue.

I’m beginning to believe that all the changes in the game are causing issues. When it launched, my CPU usage was around 17-20% even with the same number of apps running now.

Yes, you can still enjoy smooth gaming even with a g-sync monitor.
