Comparison of 9900KF and 10700KF models
You're weighing an upgrade from a newer but slightly older board to something more powerful, while also considering the cost. It's understandable to feel hesitant about making such a change. The new components you mentioned offer solid performance, especially with the 10700KF's high turbo speeds. However, balancing price and value is key—check current prices for both boards and the CPU to see if it fits your budget. Talking to others in your community or checking online forums might give you more clarity on what to expect.
The results from those chips are essentially identical. Upgrading doesn't seem necessary. It might not be worth it for me.
They're expected to perform similarly, but the 10700k ultimately prevails thanks to superior thermal management and built-in security features that minimize performance drops. I wouldn't invest in an upgrade unless you're deciding between the two without either one. In that case, the 10700k consistently outperforms. The only practical improvements would be swapping in a 10850k (more cores), a 5800x (slightly better overall speed + PCIe4), or opting for 5900x/5950x just for unnecessary extra features.
Here’s a clearer version of your message:
You all shared thoughtful ideas, which really helped. While I don’t think adding another 0.1 GHz is necessary, I’m considering upgrading the CPU since my system has been behaving oddly. The main reason I’m leaning toward it is cost—compared to the 9700KF, it’s more affordable (at least when I checked last time). However, I’ll need to replace the motherboard as well. I was expecting the 10700K or KF to perform better than the 9900KF, but I’m not sure. My parents suggest I keep things as they are right now (I’m 14 and responsible for this myself) and focus on saving for a car instead. I welcome any advice you have! Thanks for your time.
So this is not a new issue. I already had an entire thread for the cpu and other component issues. I did a motherboard swap about 3 months ago (I used to run a Gigabyte Z390 UD) and then I changed my PSU. I also had issues with the RAM and I'm currently waiting for a response from Corsair about my RMA Request. The cpu issues include the Following: High CPU usage in small programs such as: Minecraft, Idle, Age of Empires (literally every game), And the list goes on and on but It's not really worth typing out. Poor Performance in other programs such as: Blender, Microsoft Visual Studios High CPU Temp (this is my fault for getting a tiny cooler, It's a be quiet pure rock 2) Thermal Throttling at low Temps (66 Degrees. Junction is 100)
I won't be relying on Windows anymore. This was my final Windows experience after the install. I'm moving to Arch Linux.
