Finished RE7 with DLC 1 and planning to purchase DLC 2. Initially nervous but now getting comfortable. Looking for some great horror games. I don’t want to feel defeated; I prefer a challenge where I can fight back and change the situation. You know, like shifting roles in a game.

The main titles that come to mind are the Dead Space series. They weren’t particularly frightening, but they have a chilling vibe and give you a chance to resist. A solid classic would be System Shock 2, which is also very atmospheric. To be honest, I admit games where you can directly confront enemies don’t really scare me either.

Have you explored Amnesia, Penumbra, The Evil Within? @Ya_Mi’s Legacy of Kain feels intense. Lost Planet titles are great. Metro games span Resident Evil.

The darkness inside is what stands out most. If you're looking for fear and despair, *Alien: Isolation* remains the most intense experience I've ever had.

I've wrapped up the Dead Space series. Are you familiar with Dreadout? It’s an interesting game where you use a camera to fight back. No, I haven’t played Penumbra yet. I just heard of it and thought it might be worth checking out. I’ll look into the review later. What about you?

The challenge with retaliation lies in maintaining the sense of dread if it's handled poorly. The original Resident Evil did this quite effectively. In contrast, titles like The Last of Us lack that tension because players have too many options and can easily counterattack. Some horror experiences I suggest are outside PC, such as Siren or earlier Silent Hill entries.

Dreadout offers a chilling experience. It's worth trying, especially if you want to counter opponents effectively. The Evil Within also has a mysterious narrative that leaves much unsaid—something I appreciated. For those new to the series, playing on Normal might be a better starting point.

I don't believe that's a horror game guy... Siren and Fatal Frame has really managed to frighten me. Yes, but RE7 is actually quite solid because the ammo is limited in the game, though the new game isn't as intense now.
