The idea of needing to retaliate isn’t essential for horror games. In fact, the scariest moments come when you’re completely powerless and must rely on clever thinking to escape. Being unable to fight back often heightens tension more than any physical confrontation.

I've tried playing DreadOut, but it didn't really engage me. It felt too shaky and disconnected to create any real impact. While I appreciated the Fatal Frame-inspired approach, the lack of agency made it feel hopeless and terrifying. I'd have suggested Dead by Daylight instead, though fighting back there doesn't seem possible. It's a cool idea, but the experience fell short.

I understand perfectly... the vibe in Dreadout is really strong, and the Asian ghost is quite unsettling too. I'm caught in a battle with those cutter ghosts that keep teleporting around and always challenging me. The dark side inside me comes alive when I see them—remembering my past experiences with Dead Space and Lost Planet. Thanks for giving it a try later. In the first 1-3 hours, I enjoyed the sense of helplessness, but once I got deeper into the game, those ghosts kept pushing me around, making me frustrated. That anger eventually turned into rage, which sometimes made me quit and never play again. Don’t misunderstand, I appreciate the horror atmosphere and the feeling of being outmatched. But if something like this happens often, it breaks my confidence. I won’t be scared again until the end of the game.

It seems you're expressing confusion about the game. It might be poorly optimized, but the second sequel is much better. I'm not scared—it's just that sometimes the ghost pops up unexpectedly and really scares me. The main goal is to survive, not to fight.

Minecraft stands out as the most intense title, featuring creepers and zombies for players 18 and up.

Metro stands out for its intense, enclosed setting that creates pressure rather than letting threats overwhelm you. Legacy of Kain offers tense moments due to limited visibility and the inability to simply restart failed sections. Soul Reaver and Melchiah's Lair are particularly unsettling with their creepy ambiance and spider-filled scenes.

I lost a planet and a metro game, and I haven’t played Legacy of Kain yet. I just watched some gameplay and it didn’t seem scary—though I’m not sure. Playing Metro felt similar to Fallout 4, but results might differ.

Unstable in its crashes during my session; likely only half through the series before a save file became corrupted. After that point, I never resumed. The experience didn’t really engage me—no jump scares to frighten me (a trait I share with most contemporary horror films) and an atmosphere that failed to draw me in. Still, it’s personal. The Library in Metro 2033 remains one of the most gripping parts I’ve encountered.

That’s odd, honestly—I’ve never seen anything like it. It might be made by just a few college students, which is better than Man of Steel. Oh, the library… I remember it. Both Last Light and 2033 have the best stories so far.
